HAWLEY WATCH
Tracking what he says vs. what he does

About Hawley Watch

Our Mission

Hawley Watch is an independent political accountability project. We fact-check Senator Josh Hawley's public statements, track his campaign finance data, and connect his words to his voting record.

We are not affiliated with any political campaign, party, or organization. We are concerned citizens exercising our First Amendment right to hold elected officials accountable.

Importantly, we believe in fairness. When Hawley's words match his actions, we say so. Our "Credit Where It's Due" section tracks positions where he has been consistent. Credibility comes from accuracy, not partisanship.

Truth Score Methodology

Every analyzed statement receives a Truth Score on a 0–100 scale, based on three weighted factors:

Factual Accuracy (40%)

Are the specific claims in the statement verifiable and true? We check against primary sources: official records, data, and established reporting.

Intent to Mislead (40%)

Does the statement use misleading framing, false dichotomies, or deliberately inflammatory language? Does it omit the speaker's own relevant history?

Context & Cherry-Picking (20%)

Does the statement leave out crucial context that would change the reader's understanding? Does it present a misleading picture through selective facts?

Rating Scale

FALSE 0–25%
MISLEADING 25–50%
MIXED 50–75%
MOSTLY TRUE 75–90%
TRUE 90–100%
